What academic advising model does Smeal use?
To help you pursue your academic goals, select courses, and navigate the world of Penn State and the Smeal College of Business, a professional academic adviser will be assigned to you in time before your first-year arrival on campus. Ideally, you will work with the same adviser until graduation. Additionally, when you enter your major you will be assigned a faculty mentor for guidance on major-specific academic planning and career decisions.
In addition to being assigned professional academic advisers, each first-year student is assigned a Penn State Smeal Student Mentor—a student who has been selected and trained to help you navigate your first year on campus academically, socially and personally. Mentors know what it is like to transition from high school and face the challenges of the business school experience. Their guidance and advice can help you prepare for the same success they have achieved as Smeal students.
