Brynn Mauthe
Brynn Mauthe, our February Student of the Month, chose to major in marketing at Penn State because of a strong interest in the influence brands have within the marketplace and the relationships they build with consumers. She is particularly intrigued by brand dynamics in high-end markets and how strategic branding shapes perception, loyalty, and long-term value between businesses and consumers.
One of Brynn’s favorite courses at Smeal has been Negotiation and Conflict Management, a class she found especially impactful due to its immersive, scenario-based approach. Rather than learning solely through lectures, the course emphasizes hands-on participation and real-world application. This experiential learning style allowed her to develop practical skills and strategies that extend far beyond the classroom.
Within the marketing program, Brynn is pursuing an emphasis in Branding Strategies, along with Innovation and Entrepreneurship, aligning closely with her interest in creative brand development and strategic growth.
Outside of the classroom, Brynn has been actively involved in the Penn State community. She previously served as a THON Dancer, an experience that was both meaningful and rewarding. Originally from the Chicagoland area, she also works at a hotel while attending Penn State, where she enjoys networking with individuals from a wide range of industries, backgrounds, and career paths—an experience that has further strengthened her communication and relationship-building skills.
Brynn has been a member of the Corporate Innovation and Entrepreneurship Society (CIES) since her freshman year and has held several officer positions within the organization. She currently serves as the group’s Marketing Officer, helping promote initiatives that encourage innovation and entrepreneurial thinking among students.
Looking ahead, Brynn plans to pursue an MBA following graduation and hopes to build a career in Brand Strategy, where she can apply her passion for branding and consumer relationships in competitive markets.
